Travelling to Stadl

It is possible to drive from the UK via the channel tunnel/ferries etc, but this will probably take the best part of 12 hours from somewhere like Southampton.

Travelling by Rail

Rail enthusiasts can also get to Stadl by rail from Salzburg, but the journey is quite protracted and you will need to change trains at least twice – at Radstadt and at Tamsweg. If you want to use this method of transport we suggest you look at either www.oebb.at or www.raileurope.com for more information and the connections that will be necessary to complete your journey.

Travel by Air

We expect that the majority of visitors will arrive by air – and details of all the main airports are given below.

In the ski season, from December to April, it is possible to fly from regional airports (Bournemouth, Bristol and Southampton for example) to Salzburg using Thomsonfly, Flybe etc. Outside the winter season British Airways and Ryan Air run regular flights to Salzburg from London Gatwick and London Stansted respectively.

We have found air prices to be very reasonable if you avoid the peak weeks and if you shop around on the internet, it is possible to pick up some bargains.

As far as car hire is concerned, we use a company called Opodo – www.opodo.co.uk - a joint venture company part owned by British Airways and other airlines. Opodo links up with the major car hire companies or agents – Avis, Hertz, Auto Europe – who are agents for Budget and Europecar. So far we have found car hire to be pretty reasonable – roughly £26 a day for a compact car (VW Golf for example). You can also buy your flights through Opodo too.
